This piece is from a white oak not far from the shore of Webb Lake. A friend thought it was a bit too close to the end of its life, and a bit too close to his house so he made a light-hearted offer - “you cut it down, you can have it.” So it eventually came home to our sawmill, but not before my felling skill nearly made his light heart heavy - the tree just barely missed the side of his house. Trees are worth so much more than the value we assign to them, and this one was close to being very expensive. White oaks can commonly live to be hundreds of years old. Finished with liquid coconut oil
